In this workshop we will explore narratives I gathered in my published research on communities of African and North American Indigenous descent in Pacific Coastal regions of Mexico. We will explore the participants' descriptions of their understandings of the symptoms of illnesses and related ritual interventions and the attributed meanings and priorities which are communicated metaphorically.
